Looking for info on Thomas E Aitchison. He was born in Berwickshire in 1850. He moved to Dalmellington to work as a Joiner with the Railway.
He died at Hatchside in 1913. He had a large family all living in Dalmellington in 1911. Thomas E Aitchison was my Great Grampaws Brother.

My great grandfather, William Sloss, was born in Dalmellington on August 25, 1856. His father was Alexander Sloss and his mother was Margaret Kerr. I think some of his relatives moved to Maybole. I'm wondering if there are any records for his family with the local churches or cemeteries.

My daughter and I are planning to visit Scotland in June, and I'm also wondering the easiest way to get to you from London. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Sue

I am researching my ancestors from Dalmellington. I have traced it back to one Mac McMurtry/Mackirdie/Macmuirceartach who lived during 1645-1669. I haven't been able to trace any earlier than that. If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I am a genealogist in the US researching the family of Bernard Daily. He is listed in the 1871 and 1881 census in Dalmellington, living at 37 Waterside. I believe at least 8 of his 13 children were born in Scotland prior to him emigrating to the US in 1887. What records are available online to research the family? Any information would be greatly appreciated. This is also a wonderful website of a beautiful town. Thank you

My Great-Grandmother, Jean W. McCutcheon McIntosh, was born in Dalmellington on 6 April 1853. Her father, John McCutcheon, was a shepherd, her husband, Alexander McIntosh, was a coal miner, and her father-in-law, John McIntosh, was a weaver. She, along with her mother Sarah Pollock McCutcheon and her husband and children, emigrated to Scranton, Kansas in June 1888 where they operated their own coal mine and farmed.
