My mum and dad were from castle croft area. My granny mcteer had a house there. Me and my brothers and sisters visited dalmellington and bellsbank many times.
My dad passed away long time ago. He was a piper and a Japanese pow. My mum is 93 and I\'ll in hospital at crosshouse just now. I will be on a nostalgic visit to dalmellington tomorrow before going back to London. I remember the fields and the wwatter like it wish yesterday.

I lived a 83 Dalfarson Avenue till I left school at 16, I then worked in Paterson’s the Butchers in the square Dalmellington for a few months before joining the Army Because of my interest in radio (Ham Radio) . I was sent on attachment to the Royal Signals. Due to a medical condition I left the Army after only 5 months service at that time I was totally gutted but on the bright side I met me wife Wife Nancy.

Just discovered today that I have a genealogical tie to your area through my Scottish ancestors: McMurtrie (McMurtry) surname. I have several ancestors going back to the 1600s in your area.
