just finished escape from the dungeon, very well written, shocking story. Once i started reading i could not put it down. Jennifer i think you are a great insiration in that you survived such a horiffic childhood and rose above it to be all you could be. I am as many others are very proud of your acomplishments despite your mothers trying to bring you down all your life. You all should be proud to have survived such a manipulative woman. I see you said about working on a miniseries, did it ever come to be? if so can it be purchased as i would love to see it. all the best to you and your family, cheryl

I remember you from high school. I remember the day you came in with your hair super short and remember thinking - what a rebel-very cool, admiring your ability to cut your hair. Little did I know that was the day your mom had cut off your beautiful hair. I heard you speak on the CAP fund about 3 years ago, and every year since then I have listened waiting for you. You are an inspiration. You remind of the good there was in our Catholic school (and the people who helped you). I thought then that you had inner strength - and now I know you had unbreakable strength.
May God give you strength to raise your children (looks like He is doing a good job so far) into wonderful, inspiring adults - just like their mom.

I have read your book and seen the Montel Williams show. I have to admit, the book was so hard to read for me. I actually felt guilty because I had to put the book down at times and do something else for a while not to think about it. It made me want to hug my little boy (he is 6 months old) so hard I had to be careful not to squeeze him too tight! I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how someone could hurt their children in such a terrible way. I kept trying to put myself in your shoes to try to feel your pain and your strength but I know I can't really feel what you feel. I just felt extreme hatred for Linda. When I watched the Montel Williams show it hurt me to see the three of you sharing a story that should be a horrible work of fiction not your childhood. I have learned so much from you, however, and will us it in my work of child abuse prevention. I will always follow my gut and not be schmoozed over by someone like Linda. I will dive deep into the details and not take the child's home situation for face value.

Jennifer your story is so heartwrenching. I am so thankfur you didn't become a repeat abuser like so many do. I am was sexually abused by my step-father while my mother knew. When charges were first filed my mother would sneek him into the house and told me not to tell anyone. Then "wined & dined" me into recanting my story allowing him to move back into our home. Then abuse continued until I was 15, I told my mom and she told me to stay away from him IN THE SAME HOUSE! I then tried to press charges with my grandma but somehow he got out of those. I left then only to return home at 17 my senior year. But I was stronger now he didn't dare touch me. I have children now and sometimes wonder how a mother could allow abuse to happen. I still talk to my mom and she is still married to that man. I have a bit of the Stockholm Syndrome because he has been my father since I was 4 but I fully relize his manipulation powers. My children are never around him or my mom without me present. But God has dealt with my heart about forgiveness. I do forgive but never forget. I am very protective of my children and shelter them from everything. I teach them of God's loving power and that following his will is #1 in your life. I just don't let the monsters in and love my children very much. But we can only do so much the law needs to be stiffer like sterilization or capitol punishment for physical andor sexual child abusers. I will help in the fight any way I can
