Here is an interesting quote, excerpted from:
"In The Company Of The Holy Mother", on the topic of
"God-Vision".
Swami Arupananda:
Udbodhan (Prayer Room) 30 September, 1918:
It was about ten in the morning. A devotee came and after bowing to her said, "Mother, why do I not see the Master?"
"Keep on calling on Him," Mother said. "See how quite a number of munis and rishis could not find Him even after ages of searching, and you want to have Him for the mere asking! If it does not happen in this birth, it will in the next; if not in the next, it will be in the birth after that. Is God-vision such an easy thing? But fortunately the Master has chalked out an easier path this time."
After the devotee had gone she continued the topic and said with some warmth, "Why should not one have concentration and meditation if the mind be pure? Why should not one have God-vision? When one sits down for japa, God's name will continue rising up from the mind naturally and not with effort.
