FEDERICO : The Great Mercenary Captain and Humanist of the Renaissance
Born an illegitimate son to a minor Italian noble, Federico, Duke of Urbino, rose to be one of the great condottiere (mercenary soldier) of the Fifteenth Century, as well an associate of Popes, Emperors, and Leonardo da Vinci. His court at Urbino is acclaimed by historians as one of the most brilliant of the Renaissance, included the great Raphael and Piero della Francesca.
