Have a "Susiefull" Christmas!

'TWAS DECEMBER 24TH
AND ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT
NOT A POSTING WAS MADE
ON GINGER'S SUSIE WEBSITE.

THE STOCKINGS WERE HUNG
FROM CHIMNEYS WITH CARE
IN HOPES THAT SUSIE'S PICTURES
WOULD FIND THEIR WAY THERE.

WOULD SANTA BRING FILMS
THAT THEY HADN'T YET SEEN?
OR WOULD THE OLD MAN
BRING THEM TO HIS OWN SCREEN?

HE AND THE MISSUS
WERE SO BUSY THIS YEAR
THAT THOSE ON GINGER'S WEBSITE
REACTED WITH FEAR.

COULD SUSAN'S FINE FLICKS
THAT THEY'D HAD ON THEIR LIST
STAY IN SANTA'S SATCHEL
AND NOT MAKE IT TO THEIR GIFTS?

NOT ONLY THAT,
HE MIGHT NOT COME AT ALL!
HE COULD GET CAUGHT UP WATCHING
SUSAN'S FILMS AND HAVE A BALL.

AFTER ALL, IT'S NO CHOICE
BETWEEN FLYING THROUGH COLD AIR
OR SITTING BY THE FIRE
WATCHING AN ACTRESS SO FAIR.

SO A WORD OF CAUTION FOR CHRISTMAS:
GET YOUR SUSIE FLICKS AHEAD
OR MR. AND MRS. CLAUS
COULD BE VIEWING THEM INSTEAD!

Re: Have a "Susiefull" Christmas!

Nice one Gloria. You have such talent.

Trish

Re: Have a "Susiefull" Christmas!

Gloria, that is so sweet and creative! Thanks for sharing it with us!

I haven't watched a Susan Hayward film in several months. Can you believe it? I'm really starved for one.. I think I'll get started on one tonight!

Re: Have a "Susiefull" Christmas!

Santa was feeling particularly terse
The Yuletide is high stress.
But when he read Gloria's verse
The Yuletide troubled him less.

He said " That cheered me up a lot
I'll travel 'With a Song in my Heart'.
For Gloria - a copy of 'The Honey Pot'
And that's just for a start"

"Such dedication deserves reward
I've had a 'Change of Heart'.
I will navigate my sleigh 'Among the Living'
While singing like a lark."

When you see a bright light, high above the road
It is not a 'Comet Over Broadway'.
No it is Santa heading for Gloria's abode
With Susie's films wrapped in the sleigh.
-------------------

Loved your poem Gloria, and I agree that one needs to move swiftly to circumvent Mrs. Claus who is not averse to settling in with a large snifter of brandy on a cold night and a copy of 'Garden of Evil' or ' I Want to Live' nestling in the dvd player ( the same dvd player that Mr. Claus was SUPPOSED to deliver to some poor soul.)

Re: Re: Have a "Susiefull" Christmas!

Way to go, Kerry
I'm with you, of course.
To say I'm anxious for Susie's films
is like "beating a dead horse."

Should Mrs. Claus steal the flicks
of Susie from under my nose
I will have to take swift action
sending her to a long repose.

Surely the Clauses know Susie fans
treasure her films a lot
So they'd better weigh heavily what they take
for their treason will not be forgot.

A Susan Hayward fan has learned
the ropes, and not from any elf
No, if somebody ever steals from them
they've learned from Susie herself...

not to take it lying down
but to get back at the evil cur
And when that happens, what's flying around
will not be reindeer fur.

So a word to the wise and cautious,
Mr. and Mrs. Claus,
if you're trying to keep her flicks for yourselves,
you'd better first take a pause...

and remember there are many fans
of the redhead who will keep in mind
what you two have done to them
and next year react in kind!

BEWARE THE WRATH OF THE HAYWARD FANS!
Have a great Christmas, Kerry, and thanks for your poetic answer. I loved it!

Re: Re: Re: Have a "Susiefull" Christmas!

Great follow up Gloria - your poetic muse is indeed drenching you in clever verse.

Yes the Monsieur and Madame Claus are now on notice, and will be very careful about 'misplacing' any of Susan's celluloid gems this year.

Have a great holiday yourself - enjoy.
