8. The Mother’s Attitude towards Worldly Values – 3
Once a young brahmana widow from Chandrakona came and stayed at the feet of the Mother for some time. This girl was initiated by the Mother. She strictly followed all the injunctions laid down for a widow, namely, getting her hair cut very short, weating only white coarse cloth, having no ornaments on her body, eating only those things which were prescribed for the widows, and having great devotion for the Lord. She was able to gain the immense love and affection of the Mother. Praising her spirit of renunciation, austerity, faith and devotion, the Mother would many a time encourage others to take a lesson from her example of devotion and renunciation.
