Holy Mother By Swami Nikhilananda: 111
In The March of Events – 23
Sri Ramakrishna, who never had any money, worried from time to time about Sarada’s support after his death. One day he asked her how much money she needed for her monthly expenses. She told him that five or six rupees should be enough. But this evidently did not satisfy him. ‘How many pieces of bread do you eat at night?’ Sri Ramakrishna asked. The shy wife blushed at the mention of her eating. When he pressed the point repeatedly she said: ‘Five or six pieces.’ ‘Then,’ the Master dais, ‘five or six rupees should be enough.’ He deposited with Balaram Bose, a householder disciple, sufficient money to yield that much in interest.
