Spiritual Practices – 23

The divine power becomes incarnated in the flesh to fulfil a cosmic spiritual necessity. Hinduism does not limit the Incarnation of God to a particular person or time. Sri Ramakrishna is now regarded as a God-man for our age, and the same Divinity which was manifested through Sri Ramakrishna was also manifested through Sarada Devi. The purpose of this dual manifestation, through what society calls the husband-and-wife relationship, will be revealed as the drama of Sarada Devi’s life unfolds itself through these pages.

Sri Ramakrishna once said to Sarada Devi: ‘I know who you are, but I shall not reveal it now.’ He characterized her as a cat hidden in ashes. When the ashes are shaken off, one can see the cat.
