The Masters Death and After – 06

At the Cossipore garden house Sarada Devi felt relieved, since she could move about freely. The garden comprised about five acres of land with trees, flowering plants, and shrubs. The two-storey house was away from the noises of the street. Sri Ramakrishna occupied a fairly large room on the second floor, and Sarada Devi, a small one on the ground floor. Lakshmi lived with her as her helper and companion. A few women devotees visited Sarada Devi time to time and spent the night with her. Narendranath and several young disciples took up residence there in order to be available for the Master’s service. Sometimes as many as twelve of them lived there in the two other rooms on the ground floor. Three different kinds of meals had to be cooked daily: one for Sri Ramakrishna, one for Narendranath and the other young disciples, and the third for the rest of the inmates. The expenses were met from donations by the elderly and householder devotees.
