There is a small concentration of Barrons in the south west of england. I know little of our heritage other than we were scots.

I and my late father come from Edinburgh. His father and the paternal generations since the clearances were in Galashiels & Selkirk but then the links dry up. We have always presumed that they came from the Inverness / Moray / Aberdeenshire area. My great grandmother was a Smith from Papa Westray. Researching back becomes difficult when in both Barrons and Smiths they are all called William! My middle name is Graham and my brother\'s is Fraser but I can\'t find these in any of our tree.

My Grandmother is Mary Elizabeth Frazer and after doing much research I have discovered that I belong to the Clan Frazer! Who knew... I grew up in the bay area and remember being part of a big family. Over time and moving I have lost contact with everyone. I would love to reconnect and find out more of my history as I never knew this growing up.

Great site, Graeme. Love the music of Alasdair.

My grandfather, Wilson Frazer, set me up to be the family historian of my generation, so I ended up writing a book about our family traditions.
Presenting the story of my ancestor, Archibald (Archie) Frazer. Born in France c1703, lived his life in
exile from kin and clan, and died in Ireland.
A maybe-believe story, with nothing known to be untrue, that Archie was the first son of Simon, 11th Lord Lovat, who was infamously beheaded at the Tower of London in 1747.
This is a seed: May it fall on fertile ground.

Mayn thanks Graham, for the good work on the Barron Sept, and wonderful anecdotes about your Mum. I am a Barron -- my mother was Irene Barron of Grangemouth. Her father was Lawrence George Barron, and was the mastermind of the electrical system of the ship Queen Elizabeth. My uncle George Barron of Guelph Canada is a world authority on fungus (he says someone has to do it). My line of the Barrons lived in the Shetlands, and were one of the island's major families. Several were in the church, and my great, great gandfather George Lawrence Barron was a privateer and sailed the trade routes around the Horn of Africa. I saw the plunders from that life when I went back home. We'd always been told we were a part of the Rose clan.

My Dad, Tom Seabrook was a pilot in the 159 Squadron and I have a similar photo of the aircrew as in your article on your Dad. I found your article on the squadron most interesting and the details of sorties mentioned in the "special flight". it has helped add to the information I already have.
Dad never spoke much about his war service which seems to be the case with a lot of service people. He died in 1985 and I have found out a great deal since. Thank you Graeme.
regards Helen Connor
