My Grandmother is Mary Elizabeth Frazer and after doing much research I have discovered that I belong to the Clan Frazer! Who knew... I grew up in the bay area and remember being part of a big family. Over time and moving I have lost contact with everyone. I would love to reconnect and find out more of my history as I never knew this growing up.

Great site, Graeme. Love the music of Alasdair.

My grandfather, Wilson Frazer, set me up to be the family historian of my generation, so I ended up writing a book about our family traditions.
Presenting the story of my ancestor, Archibald (Archie) Frazer. Born in France c1703, lived his life in
exile from kin and clan, and died in Ireland.
A maybe-believe story, with nothing known to be untrue, that Archie was the first son of Simon, 11th Lord Lovat, who was infamously beheaded at the Tower of London in 1747.
This is a seed: May it fall on fertile ground.

I now live in France and have discovered through the national phone book that there are 15,000 Barrons on the phone which of course means a lot more are here. This leads me to believe the Viking/Norman connection is true. They moved through the western part of France known as Aquitaine to Spain where there is town called Barron and then on to the Spanish colonies. The origin of the name is probably something simple like Brun or Brunn

My great-grandmother was Ann Barron was most likely born in Tomintoul, Scotland about 1846. She and her husband, William Maitland from Old Meldrum, went to Canada in the mid 1870\'s and then into Vermont, USA in the early 1880\'s. I have traced back her side of the family to her father, George Barron b.abt. 1805 d.1857, (his wife Elizabeth Ross), and George\'s father, William Barron who married Jean Davidson. I would love to find out more about the Barron side of the family as well as my other Scottish ancestors.

My Barron\'s came to NZ from Banffshire in about the 1860\'s. Robert Barron and his wife Mary Smith had a son Alexander who was born at Newtown of Tollo and then they emigrated to NZ where further children were born. Would love to hear from anyone who has connections.

Just been watching a programme about Clan Fraser and had always been told that our family name derived from the name Fraser. So happy to see the name Sim or Syme in the Clan history as these are the names that keep cropping up when looking up my family tree.

Dear Graeme,
My name is Sarah Fraser. I am the wife of Kim Fraser, son of the late Shimi Lovat.
I have a biography of Lovat of the 45 coming out in May with HarperCollins. It's called The Last Highlander. I have a website for the book - thelasthighlander.com - and the book is available for pre-ordering on Amazon. HarperCollins is a very good publisher and they think highly of the book. I think it is a good contribution to the Fraser profile and offers a slightly different take on The Old Fox from the victorian biographers.

I was wondering if we could put a link to the UK Clan Fraser website on my Facebook and website. I have hundreds of fraser cousins who would go to your pages I'm sure. And, if you could put a link back to our site on yours? I also have a Facebook page for The Last Highlander at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Last-Highlander/341717239196948 and I hope this links to the website, where there is a blog for discussing all things Highland and Fraser, both past and present. I'm hoping we can get lively debates going. yours, Sarah Fraser
