My father Mac Samples was one of the survivors,of the ill fated,mission to stop the Gneisinau,Prince Eugen and Scharhorst,crossing the channel,which he received the D.S.O,from King George X1.

Recently while reserching my family tree I had the pleasure to meet a lady who's aunt had married my uncle, he was later killed in action during W.W1.

In passing she said that her husband had been killed during W.W.2, he had been in the Fleet Air Arm and had been killed attacking the Scharnhorst in the channel, her name is Edith Beynon and her husband was Sub Lt. W.Beynon.
When I returned home I went onto Google and typed in his details, what I read was an amazing story of unbeliveable bravery, it seems such a shame that they did not all receive medals for showing such bravery!
It's great that an organisations like yours keep their story alive, good luck and keep up the good work!
