Young reporter, Effie Abrams, moves from Philadelphia to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. She rents an
apartment in the countryside and meets a handsome, quirky mechanic, who lives in the loft of
the garage across the road. He is an idiot savant who discovers her spying on him and rapes her in the springhouse. A
missionary who is attracted to Effie senses danger from the man across the way.
