I loved reading your story of your childhood.
I use to live on the Heath, I attended the old junior school
In the village by Manningham House, and was one of the
First pupils to attend Clare Park. We later moved to
Elm crescent Clare Park.

I remember the bands that was give to us for sports day, I was yellow for lions and we used to get a ice bun and milkshake after, also remember the stingers in the wood to the side of blackland entrance gate, where kiss chase also happened lol.

Great to see it up and running again Steve, well done.
I was born in Elm crescent , East malling and soon after moved to Carnation close , step-stile with mum and dad and older brother Kenny .
Loved the freedom in them days to play football in the garages or go for many a walk up to the old airfield site in west Malling.
Mum worked on Godwin’s farm at Wedt Farleigh and mum and us kids in the holidays would be picked up my goodwins coach for the day .
Happy days in a different era .

I attend Blacklands and Clare Park, loved both schools and the teachers, happy school days back then. I left Clare Park at end of term in 1970 to emigrate to South Africa with my parents.I remember you and Kevin Handley, sorry to hear that he is no longer with us. I returned to the UK in 2005 with my husband as both our boys had emigrated to the UK and grandchildren started to arrive.

Was lovely to meet you again today even if it was so briefly. Although a newcomer to the area (since 2017) I’m very interested to hear about the history and memories of the area I now call home.
